Daphne von Schrader „Animalcule: Microspecies Arrangements“

AT

workshop/lecture performance

Daphne von Schrader is a visual artist working on bacteria and the biological effects of sound. In her lecture performances, she explores sound in the context of ecological, societal, or personal issues. Her electroacoustic compositions recycle found audio material and address inflamed organs, microorganisms, ecosystems, and noise pollution. She is co-founder of „Klub Møntage“ and the festival „Montage camp.“

In her sound performance „Animalcule: Microspecies Arrangements“ she offers speculative thoughts on how animals, bodies, and machines might communicate in the future. Starting with the microbiome, the body is understood as a complex, biodiverse, multi-species conglomerate. The performance explores sound and vibrations as fictional tools for managing bacterial communities and stimulating microbial companions.

Speculative scenarios for bioacoustic interventions. Contaminated frequencies and mutated conversations give rise to human and non-human vocal landscapes and tell of hybrid languages between inner- and outer-world of all inter-, intra- and multi-species actors.
