MUSIC FOR EVENINGS x ROBERTA LAZO VALENZUELA

MUSIC FOR EVENINGS

Music for Evenings consists of a series of fixed media pieces that seek to explore the atmospheres of the end of the day. Each piece revolves around a specific frequency and is developed through timbres, colors, textures and harmonic masses, making use of various homemade, artisanal and non-traditional instruments, as well as everyday artifacts, utensils and voice.

Roberta Lazo Valenzuela (1991 Santiago, Chile). After finishing her bachelor in composition in Universidad Católica de Chile and working on several music and art projects, she migrates to Europe, where she lives first in Germany and later in Austria. In 2018 she finishes a Master in composition in Linz and starts a second Master in TransArts in the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 2021 she carries out an Erasmus semester at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

Her pieces are mainly concerned with portraying and emphasizing the subtleties of everyday life, focusing attention on the things that are hidden in the repetitive and trivial activities of everyday life.

In the last years, she has participated in various festivals and has worked with distinguished ensembles like Airborne Extended, Ensemble Phoenix, Ensemble Recherche and Ensemble Tøyen Fil og Klafferi. Her music has been performed in Austria, Germany, Norway, Romania, Latvia, Croatia, Chile, Switzerland, Spain and Ireland.
